Let's pick up where we left off in Buena Vista, CO.

On Day 4, we will wake up and finish out the Rocky Mountain Experience.  That night, we will go to bed exhausted but excited to move onto our second destination:

"the GRAND canyon."  or is it "THE grand canyon."
Or, perhaps you know it as "the grand CANYON. "

Anyway you say it, it's going to be grand and it's a canyon and I can't wait to lay eyes on it for the first time ever!  I've actually been looking forward to this for basically, like, my whole life.  Ever since the Brady's took their own WOW adventure and filmed it for us all to see, I have wanted to go.  I just hope my youngest two children don't wander off and end up chasing after a young Native American boy.  OK, I just about had a panic attack watching that clip....can you even imagine losing your kids at the GRAND canyon????

Moving on.  That is not going to happen, so let's just talk about the highlights of Days 5-6:

Day 5:  Wake up in Buena Vista, CO.  Pack up the tent and prepare for another long drive.  This time, it's only 10 hours, which sounds like a mere hop, skip and a jump compared to our 20 hour drive from a few days ago, but still....10 hours is a long trip for us.  I'm hoping the children will be so tired from the hiking and exploring that the 10 hours in the car will be refreshing for them.  (Unrealistic?  Perhaps, but a girl can dream....)  We will arrive at our campground in the South Rim of the Grand Canyon around dinnertime.  We will set up camp, get dinner, and explore a little bit around our camp area before crashing for bed that night.

Day 6:  Wake up in the Grand Canyon.  We will do whatever it is that you do at the Grand Canyon.  (Which, according to most people means you walk to the edge and say, "WOW THAT IS UNBELIEVABLE.  LOOK OVER THERE...AMAZING.  CAN YOU EVEN BELIEVE HOW COOL THIS IS." then you are pretty much done, unless you want to ride a donkey to the base (NO!) or go rafting down the Colorado River (NO!).  We will spend the day hiking/walking/oohing/aahing before crashing that night again in our humble green tent.  Our rental fee for 2 nights of staying in the Grand Canyon National Park is only $36.  However, I did just discover that they charge $2 (in quarters!) for 8 minutes worth of shower time.  Details, details.....

Day 7:  Wake up in the Grand Canyon.  We will pack up our tent and set in for a not-so-long drive.  Next stop:  Hollywood!!!
